 Full-time Position

1. The Recruitment Program of Global Experts (Also known as the “One-Thousand-Talents Program”) (Long-Term Innovative Talent)

Responsibilities:

He who holds this position should guide the disciplinary development in his field. He should enhance his discipline in ZJU and build the team for its development. He should improve quality of teaching and research; facilitate international academic communication and research cooperation. He should make remarkable achievements in innovative research and increase the international influence of his discipline to speed up the development of ZJU into a world-class university.

Qualifications and Requirements:

(1) The applicant should generally hold a doctoral degree granted overseas and should hold full professorship or an equivalent title in a prestigious foreign higher education or research institution, or a world-renowned enterprise or financial institution.

(2) The applicant should have been engaged in research work in natural sciences, engineering technologies, economics, finance, management, areas of humanities or social science in great demand (including 7 research areas: intellectual property law, environmental law, international law, international economic law, international relations, diplomacy and psychology) or other fields. He should possess extraordinary research capabilities: he should have published influential academic papers on core journals in the past 5 years, or have won notable international prizes in sciences or have mastered significant experimental skills or key technologies in scientific projects.

(3) The applicant should register at ZJU within 6 months after the application is approved. The applicant is expected to work in ZJU for at least 9 months annually after recruitment.

(4) The applicant should, in principle, be 55 years of age or under (60 years of age or under for applicants in areas of humanities or social science in great demand).

Remuneration:

(1) ZJU will provide decent compensation. The exact amount differs from person to person according to agreement.

(2) Those qualified may apply for purchasing one of the apartments specifically reserved by ZJU for top-level talents. Others may be entitled to a sum of money for housing subsidy.

(3) Research funds will be allocated by ZJU. Research assistants whose pay comes from the research funds may be employed if necessary.

(4) After the application approved, a one-time grant of RMB 1,000,000 (tax free) will be provided by the central government and another RMB 1,000,000 (tax free) as one-time award will be provided by government of Zhejiang Province.

 

2. Long-term Recruitment Program of Foreign Experts

Responsibilities:

He who holds this position should guide the disciplinary development in his field. He should enhance his discipline in ZJU and build the team for its development. He should improve the quality of teaching and research; facilitate international academic communication and research cooperation. He should make remarkable achievements in innovative research and increase the international influence of his discipline to speed up the development of ZJU into a world-class university.

Qualifications and Requirements:

(1) The applicant should be non-Chinese expert. He should hold a doctoral degree granted overseas and should hold full professorship or an equivalent title in a prestigious foreign higher education or research institution, or a world-renowned enterprise or financial institution.

(2) The applicant should have been engaged in research work in natural sciences, engineering technologies, economics, finance, management or other fields. He should possess extraordinary research capabilities: he should have published influential academic papers on core journals in the last 5 years, or have won notable international prizes in sciences or have mastered significant experimental skills or key technologies in scientific projects.

(3) The applicant should register at ZJU within 6 months after the application is approved. He is expected to work in ZJU for at least 9 months annually for three consecutive years after recruitment. He should, in principle, be 65 years of age or under.

Remuneration:

(1) ZJU will provide decent compensation. The exact amount differs from person to person according to agreement.

(2) A sum of money for housing subsidy may be entitled.

(3) Research funds will be allocated by ZJU. Research assistants whose pay comes from the research funds may be employed if necessary. The central government will provide RMB 1,200,000 to 3,000,000 as the research start-up fund.

(4) After the application approved, a one-time grant of RMB 1,000,000 (tax free) will be provided by the central government and another RMB 1,000,000 (tax free) as one-time award will be provided by government of Zhejiang Province.

 

3. “Cheung Kong Scholar” Special-Term Professor

Responsibilities:

(1) He who holds this position should lecture core courses in his discipline and supervise young teachers and graduate students.

(2) He who holds this position should keep pace with disciplinary development. He should put forward strategic, visionary, creative measures for development and bring his discipline in ZJU to international level.

(3) He who holds this position should look to the demands of development in cutting-edge sciences and technologies in the world and the demands of important national strategies. He should apply for and take charge of national key scientific research projects. He should conduct original researches and researches on crucial generic technologies. He should aim at breakthroughs and remarkable achievements.

(4) He who holds this position should help recruit academic talents to form teaching and research teams for his discipline with the high-level faculties in ZJU. He should guide young teachers and train members of different levels in his teams. He should facilitate international academic communication and research cooperation.

Qualifications and Requirements:

(1) The applicant should, in principle, hold a doctoral degree. He should hold associate professorship or above in a prominent overseas university (or an equivalent title) or full professorship in a domestic university (or an equivalent title).

(2) The applicant should work full-time at ZJU for 5 years after recruitment. Applicants in the field of natural sciences should be 45 years of age or under while applicants in the field of humanities or social science should be 55 years of age or under.

Remuneration:

(1) ZJU will provide decent compensation.

(2) Those qualified may apply for purchasing one of the apartments specifically reserved by ZJU for top-level talents. Others may be entitled to a sum of money for housing subsidy.

(3) After the application approved, a research fund of RMB 3,000,000 will be provided by ZJU in the disciplines of experimental sciences, engineering, agriculture and medicine. Those in the disciplines of non-experimental sciences, humanities and social science will be provided a research fund of RMB 500,000 by ZJU.

 

4. The Recruitment Program of Global Young Experts (Also known as the “One-Thousand-Young-Talents Program”)

Responsibilities:

(1) He who holds this position should participate in planning and developing the discipline. He should assist the leadership of his discipline to attain academic achievements of great significance in a certain research direction of his discipline.

(2) He who holds this position should look to the demands of development in cutting-edge sciences and technologies in the world and the demands of important national strategies. He should conduct original researches on significant theoretical and practical issues, and tackle problems in key research areas. He should apply for and take charge of national key scientific research projects. He should aim at breakthroughs and remarkable achievements.

(3) He who holds this position should lecture core courses in his discipline and supervise graduate students.

Qualifications and Requirements:

(1)The applicant should have been engaged in research work in natural sciences or engineering technologies. He should hold a doctoral degree granted by a well-known overseas university and have been engaged in research work in an overseas higher education or research institution for no less than 3 years. Or he should hold a doctoral degree granted by a well-known domestic university and have been engaged in research work in an overseas higher education or research institution for no less than 5 years.

(2) The applicant should hold a formal teaching or research position at a prestigious overseas higher education or research institution or a world-renowned enterprise.

(3) The applicant is a top talent among peer researchers and has the potential to be a future leader in his area.

(4) The applicant should be 40 years of age or under. Once recruited, he should work full-time at ZJU.

Note: Exception may be made for applicants who have acquired important achievements in research or other fields when studying for a doctoral degree.

Remuneration:

(1)ZJU will offer decent compensation and the position of Principal Investigator of “Hundred Talent Program”, qualified to supervise doctoral students.

(2)Those qualified may apply for purchasing one of the apartments for talents.

(3)The central government will provide RMB 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 as a grant for research fund.

(4) After the application approved, a one-time grant of RMB 500,000 (tax free) will be provided by the central government and another RMB 1,000,000 (tax free) as one-time award will be provided by government of Zhejiang Province.

(5) After the application approved, refer to “Hundred Talent Program”, a research fund of RMB 2,000,000 will be provided by ZJU in the disciplines of experimental sciences, engineering, agriculture and medicine, and those in the disciplines of non-experimental sciences will be provided a research fund of RMB 500,000 by ZJU.

 

5. Zhejiang Provincial Program for High-Level Overseas Talents (Long-Term Innovative Talent, Foreign Experts Recruitment Program included)

Responsibilities:

(1) He who holds this position should keep pace with disciplinary development trends in the world. He should put forward strategic, visionary, creative measures for development. He should apply for and take charge of national key scientific research projects. He should aim at breakthroughs and remarkable achievements to bring his discipline in ZJU to international level.

(2) He who holds this position should follow the demands of important national and provincial strategies. He should break through the key techniques, develop the high-tech industry and bring along the emerging discipline according to the demand of key techniques tackling; make the remarkable scientific research achievements with independent intellectual property rights and development potentials for industrialization.

(3) He who holds this position should lecture core courses in his discipline and supervise graduate students.

Qualifications and Requirements:

(1) The applicant should hold a doctoral degree granted overseas and hold full associate professorship or above (or an equivalent title) in a prominent foreign higher education or research institution, or a world-renowned enterprise or institution. A technician or manager in a senior leadership position in a world-renowned enterprise or institution is also eligible.

(2) The applicant should either demonstrate outstanding capabilities in scientific innovation with research capabilities and achievements recognized by peers as at leading level; or demonstrate strong abilities in culture management or intercultural communication with abundant achievements, and principally have participated in major business managements or international cultural exchanges; or familiar with international rules of economic operation and intellectual property protection, and also should have abundant practical economic management experiences, as well as the high professional quality in financial analysis, product development, risk management, IT, international business, financing bank, asset management, financial derivatives investment with good performance and great impact.

(3) The applicant should work full-time in ZJU, in principle, be 55 years of age or under( for Foreign Experts Recruitment Programthe applicant should be non-Chinese expert and be 65 years of age or under).

Remuneration:

(1) ZJU will provide decent compensation.

(2) Those qualified may apply for purchasing one of the apartments for talents. Others may be entitled to a sum of money for housing subsidy.

(3) After the application approved, a research start-up fund will be provided according to the difference of disciplines. Another one-time award of RMB 1,000,000 (tax free) will be provided by government of Zhejiang Province.

 

6. Zhejiang University “Qiushi” Distinguished Scholar

Responsibilities:

(1) “Qiushi” Distinguished Professor

The “Qiushi” Distinguished Professor should keep pace with disciplinary development trends in the world. He should look to the demands of development in cutting-edge sciences and technologies in the world and the demands of important national strategies. He should conduct original researches on significant theoretical and practical issues, and tackle problems in key research areas. He should invite academic talents to form teaching and research teams with the high-level faculties in ZJU. He should guide young teachers and train members of different levels in his teams. He should apply for and take charge of national key scientific research projects. He should aim at breakthroughs and remarkable achievements.

(2) “Qiushi” Distinguished Professor for Teaching

The “Qiushi” Distinguished Professor for Teaching should keep pace with disciplinary development trends. He should lead the building of high-quality courses, including exquisite courses and honor courses for undergraduates and core demonstration courses for graduates. He should take charge of education and teaching reforms and teaching development projects. He should form teaching teams and train leading teachers. He should head the teaching faculty for general courses, honor courses and exquisite courses and make achievements of great significance to increase the international influence of ZJU.

(3) “Qiushi” Distinguished Scholar for Experiments

The “Qiushi” Distinguished Scholar for Experiments should organize and lead important experiments and technical work. He should organize basic and prospective experimental researches, promote the reform and development of the teaching system for experiments and initiate the effective combination of experimental and theoretical teaching. He should engage in the research and development of large instruments or facilities and apply the results to the upgrading of teaching and research. He should apply for and take charge of national key research projects for experiments or instrument technologies. He should organize and lead his team to provide high-quality technical support for related disciplines in ZJU, for the application of important research projects and for provincial and ministerial level public platforms.

(4) “Qiushi” Distinguished Clinician

The “Qiushi” Distinguished Clinician should work in practice and clinical research, centered on improving the innovative ability and promoting the noble medical ethics. He should follow with the demands and cutting edge of clinical specialty, to form a stable clinical-practice-related research area. He should have a high popularity and influence among the peer experts in the diagnosis and treatment technology as well as in research domestically. He should lead and promote the development of clinical team and form the national competitive power.

Qualifications and Requirements:

(1) The applicant should hold a doctoral degree, work in the corresponding position of research or medicine, and hold assistant professorship or above (or an equivalent title) in a prominent overseas university or full professorship (or an equivalent title) in a domestic university (“Qiushi” Special-Term Professor for Doctors requires both professor and chief physician in principle).

(2) The applicant should have a quite strong influence among the peer experts. He should be a great team-player with outstanding organization and management capabilities. He should be the elitist with outstanding academic level or abundant teaching experiences or achievements of experimental teaching reform and instrument development or experiences of clinical treatment and research.

(3) The applicant should work full-time at ZJU and be 55 years of age or under.

(2) Those qualified may apply for purchasing one of the apartments specifically reserved by ZJU for top-level talents. Others may be entitled to a sum of money for housing subsidy.

(3) After the application approved, a research fund of RMB 500,000 to 3,000,000 will be provided by ZJU.

  

7. Zhejiang University “Hundred Talent Program”

Responsibilities:

(1) He who holds this position should undertake a high-quality task of teaching. There can be a reduction of teaching task in the first 3 years.

(2) He who holds this position should be engaged in a high-level research; try to initiate a new orientation of discipline development; set up the original theoretical and practical researches or key technologies; enhance his own international academic influence, to become an internationally active academic member.

Qualifications and Requirements:

(1) The applicant should hold a doctoral degree of world-renowned university. He should hold assistant professor or associate professorship in a prominent international university (or an equivalent title).

(2) The applicant should keep good professional ethics, rigorous learning spirit, prominent academic potential and good at cooperation. He should have the ability to establish and develop a research orientation independently.

(3) The applicant should work full-time at ZJU and be about 35 years of age.

Remuneration:

(1) ZJU will provide decent compensation.

(2) ZJU will provide the position of ZJU 100 Young Professor, qualified to supervise doctoral students.

(3) Those qualified may apply for purchasing one of the apartments for talents.

(4) After the application approved, a research fund of RMB 2,000,000 will be provided by ZJU in the disciplines of experimental sciences, engineering, agriculture and medicine and those in the disciplines of non-experimental sciences will be provided a research fund of RMB 500,000 by ZJU.

 

8. Zhejiang University “Hundred Talent Program” (Humanities and Social Science)

Responsibilities:

(1) He who holds this position should undertake a high-quality task of teaching.

(2) Zhejiang University "Hundred Talents Program"(Humanities and Social Science) includes "Type A" and "Type B".

Type A: The applicant should be engaged in a high-level research; participate in the formulation and execution of discipline development; facilitate international academic communication and research cooperation; increase the international influence; gradually form the advanced academic orientation of discipline; and enhance competitiveness of discipline.

Type B: The applicant should be engaged in a high-level research and establishing a research orientation, facilitate international academic communication and research cooperation; become an active and influential scholar in the field.

Qualifications and Requirements:

(1) Type A: The applicant should hold associate professorship or assistant professor in a prominent international university, and have a certain influence in domestic and international academia with active thoughts and rigorous learning spirit. He should have the ability to make certain influential achievements in some fields.

(2)Type B: The applicant should be the outstanding young scholar with good academic training. Principally, he should hold a doctoral degree or accomplish post doctor research of renowned university or renowned discipline. He should have certain innovative research achievements with active thoughts and rigorous learning spirit as well as a great developing potential.

(3) The applicant should work full-time at ZJU with rigorous learning spirit and fine morality in good health.

Remuneration:

(1) ZJU will provide decent compensation.

(2) ZJU will provide the position of ZJU 100 Young Professor, qualified to supervise doctoral students. Type A can directly apply for the tenured professor or tenured associate-professor.

(3) Those qualified may apply for purchasing one of the apartments for talents.

(4) After the application approved, a research start-up fund will be provided according to the difference of disciplines.

 

Non-Full-time Position

In order to strengthen international communication and cooperation, Zhejiang University also welcome scholars well-known home or abroad work in short term, to guide and promote talent training, scientific research and discipline construction. Non-full-time position of high level talents programs are as follows:

 

1. Recruitment Program of Global Experts (Also known as the “One-Thousand-Talents Program”) (Short-Term Innovative Talent)

The applicant should lead a key field of sciences, technology, industry or academic discipline in China. He should be a world-class scholar holding a doctoral degree granted overseas. He should be 55 years of age or under and will work at ZJU for more than 2 months annually for no less than 3 years in a row. ZJU will provide allowances according to the actual time he works at ZJU and allocate relevant research funds.

 

2. Short-term Recruitment Program of Foreign Experts

The applicant should be a non-Chinese expert and be 65 years of age or under in accordance with the requirements of “Foreign Experts Recruitment Program”. He should hold full professorship or an equivalent title in a prestigious foreign higher education or research institution, or a world-renowned enterprise or financial institution. He should work at ZJU for more than 2 months annually for no less than 3 years in a row. ZJU will provide allowances according to the actual time he works at ZJU and allocate relevant research funds.

 

3. High-end Foreign Experts Recruitment Program

The applicant should be a non-Chinese expert who leads a key field of sciences, technology, industry or academic discipline in China. He should be 65 years of age or under and will work at ZJU for more than 2 months annually during the employment term (for a period from 1 to 3 years). ZJU will provide allowances according to the actual time he works at ZJU and allocate relevant research funds.

 

4. “Cheung Kong Scholar” Chair Professor

The applicant should be a world-renowned scholar. He should hold full professorship in a prominent overseas university or an equivalent title. He should be influential in his discipline and have made significant achievements recognized by peers in the world. If accepted, he should work at ZJU for more than 2 months annually for 3 years. ZJU will provide allowances according to the actual time he works at ZJU and allocate relevant research funds.

 

5. Zhejiang Provincial Program for High-Level Overseas Talents (Short-Term Innovative Talent, also known as the "Seagull Program")

The applicant should be an overseas high-level innovative talent employed by a higher education institution, research institution or enterprise in Zhejiang Province, or lead a key field of sciences, technology, industry, or academic discipline of this province. He should hold a doctoral degree granted overseas and be 55 years of age or under and will work at ZJU for more than 2 months annually for no less than 3 years in a row. ZJU will provide allowances according to the actual time he works at ZJU and allocate relevant research funds.

 

6. Zhejiang University Chair Professors

Zhejiang University Chair Professors include Zhejiang University “Qiushi” Chair Professor and Zhejiang University Chair Professors Set by Various Foundations. The applicant should be a world-renowned scholar at home or abroad and be 70 years of age or under. If accepted, he should work at ZJU for at least 2-3 months annually. Allowances will be provided according to the actual time he works at ZJU and ZJU will allocate relevant research funds.
