Institute of Construction Management

The Institute of Construction Management was established in 1995, being responsible for the teaching and scientific research works in the area of civil engineering & construction management of the College of Civil Engineering &Architecture of Zhejiang University. The institute has eleven faculty members and three of them are professors, seven are associate professors, four obtained PhD respectively from USA, Japan and Hong Kong and three have overseas advanced study experience. The faculty members have published around fifty SCI papers in the international journals and act as editorial board members of relevant journals. Meanwhile, the institute is taking charge of the Academic Committee of Construction Management, Civil Engineering & Architecture Society of Zhejiang Province.

 The institute of Construction Management setup master degree program for Construction Economy and Management in 1996, and the secondary discipline master degree program and philosophy degree program of Construction Management under the first grade discipline of Management Science and Engineering. The institute has also setup the professional master degree program for project management as well as engineering management. Meanwhile, the major of construction management under civil engineering of undergraduate program was setup in 1999. In addition, the institute continuously accepts international students for master study, and collaborates with relevant professors of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University for PhD student education.

The scientific research directions of the institute include: 1) Construction Simulation-Modeling & IT-Based Management, 2) Construction Industrialization & EPC Management, 3) Life Cycle Management for Construction Projects, 4) Real Estate and Urbanization Management, 5) Investment and Financing Management & Construction Economy. The institute has undertaken many government-funded scientific research projects, including those funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Social Science Foundation of China, Specialized Research Foundation for Doctoral Program of Higher Education of China and National Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province. Meanwhile, the institute has undertaken many enterprise-supported scientific research & consulting projects in face of construction industry development of Zhejiang Province. In addition, the institute conducts scientific research by collaboration with overseas and Hong Kong’s universities.
