Reporter:Prof. Pao-Shan Yu, distinguished professor of the Department of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering at National Cheng Kung University and the Dean of College of Engineering at NCKU.
Biography:
Pao-Shan Yu is a professor of the Department of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and he is also the Dean of College of Engineering at NCKU. He received Ph.D. degree from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom in 1989. His research interests involve climate change, hydrological modeling, real-time flood forecasting, drought forecasting and water resources engineering. Professor Yu is honored with four times Distinguish Professor at NCKU since 2005. He also received Distinguished Research Award, Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan in 2004-2007 and Excellent Teaching Award, College of Engineering, NCKU in 2010. He has been active in academic affairs, research and social services, including serving as chairperson of the Department of hydraulic and ocean engineering, NCKU and as a division head in the flood and drought disasters reduction division in the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction.
