A short biography:
Dr. Jun Yang is now a full associate professor in the department of civil engineering of The University of Hong Kong. He is now granted the Distinguished Visiting Professorship of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, MOE Key Laboratory Visiting Professorship of Tongji University and Visiting Professorship of Zhejiang University. Dr. Yang received his BSc of civil engineering and PhD of geotechnical engineering from Zhejiang University. He also received PhD of earthquake engineering from Kyoto University of Japan. He has research interests in soil dynamics and earthquake engineering and geotechnical engineering and geomechanics, including cyclic and monotonic loading behavior and liquefaction of granular soils, laboratory measurement of dynamic soil properties at small strains, mechanical behavior of granular materials at multi-scales (laboratory testing and modeling), soil-structure interaction problems (e.g. pile foundations, excavations, embankments) and earthquake ground response and dynamic soil-structure interaction analysis. Dr. Yang has published more than 170 research papers and has been rewarded many awards, including Humboldt Fellowship of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany, Outstanding Young Researcher Award in University of Hong Kong, Overseas Young Investigator Award from National Natural Science Foundation of China et al. He is granted the Elected Fellow of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in 2012.
