The International Joint Research Center for Marine Civil Engineering Approved as the National Joint Research Center for International Cooperation

According to the Circular [2016] No.366issued bythe Ministry of Science and Technology on the Establishment of 38 research units including InternationalJoint Research Center for Environment and Human Health as the 2016 National Joint Research Centers (Please refer to the attachment for details), The International Joint Research Center for Marine Civil Engineering has been approved as the National Center for International Cooperation in Science and Technology, which is a milestone in the research development of our College.
The International Joint Research Center for Marine Civil Engineering, with the head ofProfessor Wang Lizhong,is based in Zhejiang University. To meet the strategic demand of the national marine civil engineering projects, it cooperated with leading universities and research institutions in the field of marine engineering, including Imperial College London, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign,Norwegian Geotechnical Institute and University of Western Australia to conduct researches on major theories and cutting-edge key technologies of marine civil engineering, and to carry out innovative researches on the internationalization of marine civil engineering. The Center covers areas such as physical ocean and hydrodynamics, marine civil engineering materials, marine structural engineering, marine geotechnical engineering and marine information engineering and technology.
The International Joint Research Center for Marine Civil Engineeringaims to give full play to the advantages of comprehensive research and innovation capability of Zhejiang University and other renowned international universities and scientific research institutions, to build a stable marine civil engineering R&D team and a solid technological innovation platform through the integration of advantageous resources, and to promote the professional training, technological innovation, and knowledge sharing and transferring in these fields, so as to serve the national coastal and marine engineering construction.
