International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva was created in 1973 as an annual event, with the exhibition hall at Palexpo along the west bank of Lac Léman, Geneva. Co-organized by Government of Swiss Confederation, State Council of Geneva, Government of Geneva and WIPO, this international exhibition is one of the largest invention exhibitions with longest history. The 45th exhibition attracted nearly 1000 inventions from over 40 countries and regions, including 83 inventions from mainland China. The project “Novel Material and its application for Effective Crack Control and Restoration in Mass Concrete Structures” from our College was exhibited and won the Silver Prize awarded by the Organizing Committee. The advisors of the project are Professor Xu Shilang and Associate Professor Li Qinghua.
The durability of concrete structures has become a major concern for modern construction. A novel technology of ultra-high toughness cementitious composite is invented by the research group of Prof. Dr. Shilang XU for longevity of concrete structures.
This technology of assembled permanent formwork and spray method based on ultra-high toughness cementitious composite is developed for rapid construction and enhancement of concrete structure life.  It can improve the load capacity and ductility of concrete structures.  It can also disperse concrete cracks into multiple ones to improve the durability of structures.
