In order to promote understanding, academic exchange and cooperation among young scholars in various disciplines such as structural engineering and disaster prevention and reduction from institutions of higher learning across the country,the 2017 National Outstanding Young Scholars Forum on Structural Engineering and Disaster Prevention and Reduction was held in Hangzhou from 27thto 29thOctober, 2017. This forum was sponsored by College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Zhejiang University. Nearly 30 scholars from National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars,Outstanding Youth Science Foundation gathered in this forum.

The forum focused on the theme of structural engineering and disaster prevention and reduction with specific view exchange and discussion on structure design of wind resistance, earthquake resistance, explosion resistance, and collapse prevention, health monitoring, vibration control, soilconsolidation and hydraulic fracturing, etc.. Prof. Duan Yuanfeng (scholar from Outstanding Youth Science Foundation) from College of Civil Engineering and Architecture presided over the opening ceremony and Prof.Luo Yaozhi (scholar from National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars), Dean of College of Civil Engineering and Architecture delivered the welcoming address. Fourteen outstanding young scholars from the field of structural engineering and disaster prevention and reduction made academic reports. The delegates visited the laboratory and the History Museum of College after the forum.
