报告简介:
In this presentation, the author will introduce the methodology and then apply it to predict the progressive damage evolution and ultimate failure of laminated and textile composites under various loading configurations. It will be shown that, starting from macroscopic elastic response, the model predicts realistic multiple intra-ply damage events that are coupled to interlaminar delamination in response to applied load. Augmentation of the same structural model can answer the key questions of how and why these types of damage occur and interact with each other at the individual ply scale. It will also be shown that further augmentation down to sublaminar and microscopic levels, with the help of 3D in-situ, high-resolution X-ray CT measurements of damage evolution processes, will allow us to deduce failure descriptions of damage events directly from constituent matrix, fiber, and interface properties, which constitutes a major step towards faithful virtual testing of composite materials.
