摘要
This talk presents a numerical simulation study of the dynamic collapse of steel framed roof structures subjected to transient wind loading. Steel structural framings is a popular structural form to cover the large roof space and under high winds, either part of the roof enclosure or the entire roof structure can be lifted off a building, particularly for low sloped roofs subject to wind-induced suction force. Collapse of roof could cause severe economic loss and poses safety risk to residents in the building. Dynamic effects associated with sudden loss of member capacity due to buckling and lateral inertial forces at the mid-length point of a buckled member are examined. Hybrid simulation provides a promising experimental technique for realistic and cost-effective evaluation of nonlinear response behaviour of roof truss structures under time varying wind loading since experimental testing of long-span roof truss under time varying wind loading is generally not feasible.Risk analysis of the progressive collapse of steel roof frame structures under combined static and transient wind loading, with force limiting devices to enhance the robustness of steel roof frame structures in collapse resistance, will also be discussed.

2001年获美国加州理工学院应用力学专业博士学位。国内毕业于同济大学和清华大学结构工程专业。2001年至2008年在美国理海大学土木与环境工程系任助理教授和副教授。2008年至今任美国马里兰大学土木与环境工程系副教授,主持系结构实验室。 近十年科研工作主要集中在传感技术,智能材料和结构防灾研究,已主持或主要参与了超过四百万美元的传感与结构防灾监测技术方向的科研项目。主持开发的传感器技术已应用于实际结构。最近获美国交通部重大项目,开发智能化结构疲劳传感监测系统,为桥梁损伤提供早期预警。基于在传感监测技术等前沿领域的创新研究,获2006年度美国国家科学基金会职业奖(NSF CAREER Award)和ASCE计算学刊2006年度唯一最优论文奖。作为美方主席主持了(美国国家科学基金会立项)美韩传感与结构监测技术国际学术研讨会系列。已发表学术论文八十余篇,现任两种国际学术期刊的编委。
