报告题目:Modeling and simulation of the dynamic response of rigid bodies on a moving base
 
报告摘要:
This is often referred to as the rocking problem in earthquake engineering and has been considered since the 1960’s in the seminal work of Housner. Recent research results will be presented which include previously unaddressed phenomena which are critical to the overall dynamical performance and have heretofore not been considered in combination: 1) 3-dimensional modeling, 2) interface friction, 3) bouncing and 4) the inclusion of geometric nonlinearities. The simulation models developed have implications in a variety of application areas such as seismic vulnerability of the toppling of non-structural objects such as electrical transformers, computer server racks and ancient stone monuments. In addition, the 3-dimensional models have been enhanced to include wheels, so that cart systems such as those commonly found in hospitals may also be considered.
 
报告人简介:
史密斯教授, 美国布朗大学(Brown University)土木工程和建筑学双学位学士,莱斯大学(Rice University)土木工程硕士,南加州大学(University of Southern California)土木工程博士。2010年起任哥伦比亚大学土木工程和工程力学系教授。从事结构力学、系统识别与控制、鲁棒自适应性识别和非线性结构系统控制、线性和非线性结构系统的非平稳随机振动分析、大型结构的健康监测及损伤诊断等。2011年起担任美国土木工程协会(The American Society of Civil Engineers)理事,以及美国土木工程协会多种期刊的特邀副主编。曾获美国土木工程师协会Walter Huber研究奖、2002年度年度美国国家科学基金会杰出青年教授奖(NSF CAREER Award)等多种奖项。并在国际权威期刊发表论文近50篇。
