报告人简介(Introduction to the Speaker):
Education and Awards:
M. Rapik Saat holds B.S. (2003), M.S. (2005), and Ph.D. (2009) degrees in civil engineering, all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has been on the faculty of CEE at Illinois since February 2011. He is supervising graduate and undergraduate students and collaborating with several faculties in systems-related railroad engineering research projects.
His awards and honors include receiving the CN Graduate Research Fellowship in Railroad Engineering in 2008 and the Society of Risk Analysis Engineering and Infrastructure Specialty Group Student Merit Award in 2010. He has also received the Michael W. & Jean D. Franke Family Foundation Scholarship from the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA), and the Frank J. Richter Scholarship from the American Association of Railroad Superintendents (AARS). 
Research Overview: 
Dr. Saat has research interests in transportation safety and risk analysis, railroad civil engineering economics, high-speed rail, normative decision making, statistical analysis, data mining and operations research.
