题   目:Three-dimensional flow structures in the wake of a circular cylinder

主讲人:西澳大学蒋弘毅博士

时    间:921日(周四)1500-17:00

地   点:浙江大学紫金港校区安中大楼A322

主要内容:

Steady incoming flow past a long circular cylinder is one of the most classical fluid mechanics problems. Beyond a Reynolds number of 190, beautiful three-dimensional flow patterns are naturally formed in the wake of a nominally two-dimensional cylinder. This will also affect the hydrodynamic forces on the cylinder and the dynamic response of the cylinder such as vortex-induced vibration. The presentation unveils the beautiful three-dimensional flow structures which are often masked by the transparency of air and water. On top of that, physical mechanisms for several flow phenomena, such as the wake transition process and the variation of vortex shedding frequency, are revealed.
